Product Description

Joe Bonamassa first laid eyes on the “Cradle Rock” Strat® as a teenager at the Philadelphia Guitar Show in 1994. He purchased the then-pristine 1963 Sunburst Fender Stratocaster®, and it became one of the most sentimental pieces in his collection. Named after the Rory Gallagher tune Joe recorded on his debut album, the pickups in this Strat® had a distinctive powerful sound that he wanted to share with guitarists chasing this seminal tone. The Seymour Duncan Custom Shop engineered the period-correct wind, aged the magnets, and color-matched the covers until Joe deemed these pickups a “spot on” recreation. Crafted in the Custom Shop, the Cradle Rock Strat® Set is limited to 1000 units, with Joe’s printed signature on each pickup.

Seymour Duncan: The Josh Smith Flat V Signature Pickups (06:42)
Josh Smith is well-known for his soulful and nuanced approach to playing blues, jazz, country, rock, and everything in between. He trusts Tele®-style guitars for any gig, session, or world tour, and when he needed a custom pickup set with responsiveness dialed to his playing style, he came to Seymour Duncan. His signature Flat V pickup set features a unique blend of Alnico 2 and Alnico 4 magnets in the bridge, and Alnico 3 magnets in the neck which provide Josh an uncompressed tone that responds to his most expressive playing. These dynamic, vintage-output pickups are now available in the Custom Shop for any fans of fat, twangy Tele®-style guitar tones. 1. Made my new Fender 1961 Reissue Stratocaster much better. 5 Star Review

Noodling around playing the Blues and closing my eyes allowing the trained muscle memory to freely take over while I listening to every detail of the sound of those new '63 Cradle Rock Strat Set.

  2. It's what you want 5 Star Review

I have many strats and strat copies. I threw these in a mexi-strat with rosewood and it is one of my best if not the best sounding strat in my collection. Clean or dirty. Worth the money.

  3. Just put them on last night from midnight til 3am on the kitchen table. 5 Star Review

Waited a month so that I can tell the difference on my new Fiesta Red '61 Fender American Vintage II Stratocaster. The one that has the slab rosewood 7.25" radius fingerboard material. It's very much a true copy of the original '61 without getting it all beat up including using the same type of pickups that were made until '62.
It's a great guitar by Fender and one of the best premium non-Custom Shop guitar, but what so special about the '63 Fender Stratocaster and why so many famous guitar artist favors them? The answer to that is the pickups.
The SEYMOUR DUNCAN Joe Bonamassa's '63 Cradle Rock Strat Set got my attention.
I plugged my Stratocaster guitar into a clear channel Marshall tube amp and was amazed by the sound of those new pickups. The guitar takes the lead and can sing with the most dynamic articulation that doesn't make you want to stop playing. After this review, I'm playing my guitar again.

DIDN`T QUITE KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I ORDERED THESE.
JOE`S DEMOS WERE QUITE MID-SCOOPED THROUGH WHATEVER AMP HE WAS GOING THROUGH.
WELL THESE ARE NOT MID-SCOOPED. THEY ARE VERY BALANCED, CLEAR AS A BELL, NO WEIRDO FREQUENCIES ON THE TOP.
I`VE BEEN PLAYING FOR OVER 40 YEARS, GIG THE TORONTO CIRCUIT WEEKLY PLAYING DANCE, ROCK, FUNK, 80`S , DISCO. THESE PICKUPS CAN TACKLE ANYTHING. FYI I BOUGHT A 2ND SET AFTER I INSTALLED THE 1ST IN A CUSTOM SHOP MAPLE NECK STRAT.
