I ordered a JB pickup built in a Gibson Mini Humbucker cover and ring for the bridge position on my new Gibson 70s Deluxe. I was quoted a 4-6 week lead time when I placed the order but MJ at the Custom Shop had it built and shipped in less than two weeks. The pickup is exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier with the amazing customer service experience. Let the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop build your next custom pickup.

These P90 replacement humbuckers are great. Built using the Zephyr Silver technology makes them extremely articulate and quiet.
The only thing I had to do is get Shims to position these pickups higher and balanced.
I really recommend these pickups.

This review is for a set of zephyr humbuckers installed in a Nik Huber semi-hollow Dolphin II. The Zephyr's are unique among passive pickups in their construction and price. The most significant difference in construction is the use of silver magnet wire and unique cryogenic treated polepieces. Those materials and techniques are often associated with the pseudoscience 'Audiophile' market and have the reputation of being a scam. However, as applied in these pickups, the materials and construction do, in fact, make a noticeable and useful improvement in both feel and sound. I have done several A/B comparisons with these zephyrs and both passive and active pickups, in the same guitar. The difference is small but significant. It's that last 5% improvement that makes the difference between good and great. Yes, they are expensive, and I wouldn't put them in a guitar that wasn't already great. Yes, they are subtle and you won't get much improvement if you play with a lot of compression or distortion. But, if you have a favorite humbucker equipped guitar and wonder if there is a more to discover - I've owned over 100 guitars in the last four decades, and have only found a couple that had that 'magic' - the zephyr's are worth the investment. Also, thanks to the SD custom shop! Great people and a great service.

I had the custom shop create me a flat magnet Quarter Pounder with a white cover to fit the vibe of my Strat. The pickup is fantastic. I got the tapped one to add versatility but I was really shocked at how good the pickup sounds tapped, even compared to other Quarter Pounders. I'm guessing the added attention to detail led to a superior product.
Needless to say I'm very impressed!
Thanks

Got a middle Quarter Pound wound a little hotter than normal because I like my middle pickups very low to the guitar body and out of the way of my picking. I also wanted a different color, so they did the bobbin top in a shiny cream color instead of the standard matte black.
I also wanted a calibrated neck pickup, so they slightly degaused and underwound the neck Quarter Pound and did it in a nice, shiny black color. They both sound great and compliment my Lil Screamin' Demon bridge. Great, hotter output single coil tones for hard rock and heavy metal.

Had the custom shop rewind the pickup for a '49 Old Kraftsman arch top. The guitar never sounded so good. Timely return, reasonable price, one happy customer here. Fine job!

I contacted the custom shop about getting a set of Don Felder's custom spec'd pickups. They sound great and do the classic rock thing very well. Thank you Seymour Duncan!

I ordered a stock Nazgul metal cover pickup with custom engraving on it for my Legator Opus 7 string and it came earlier than expected and I was extremely excited about it. I finally got the pickup installed after having it sit around in my room for a month and it sounds great. I was told that they'd be using the stock version of the pickup and just putting custom engraving on that but when I got the pickup I noticed that the "Seymour Duncan" logo on the bottom of the pickup was not there and when I got both pickups installed I also noticed that the shades of black were very different. I still loved my custom pickup but am not sure exactly what happened to make it so different when I was told that it'd match the stock neck pickup perfectly.

I had been working on refurbishing/customizing a 70's Gibson SG. The only thing I had to work with was the body. Nothing else was on it or in it when I procured the guitar. The guitar had been stripped by the previous owner, who was going to refurbish it himself, but lost inspiration. It came time to decide just what kind of sound I wanted this guitar to have. I scoured the internet, and all different pickup company websites. I lost track of how many different pickups and signature sets I listened to. I would read the description, listen to the company demo ir watch the provided video. If it was an artist signature set I would listen to the provided demo or video, then go and listen to the artists album and live performances to see if the sounds held up. I know I was probably getting in Riley's nerves with all my questions and pestering. I had them do a custom set with zephyr treatment. The pickups sounded absolutely amazing. Better than I ever imagined. I wanted a set that could pound out metal with heavy distortion yet be clean and clear for pinch-harmonics and acrobatic soloing, yet have a warm, bright clean tone that would contrast and sound as if heaven opened its gates. I was blown away with how they turned out. I did the paint in satin black with a clear matte finish, flat black for the Gibson logo, matte black pickguard, tone - pros locking bridge and tailpiece in black, black nickel covers engraved for the humbuckers, spertzel black trim-lok tuners, graphtec black nut and topped it off with 50's style wiring setup. I finished it just in time to drive to Texas and give it to my brother on Thanksgiving. He was amazed, and when he played it he was speechless. Thank you, Riley for all your help and the custom shop for building perfection.

I initially contacted the Custom Shop to see if I could get the Antiquity Humbuckers without the aged covers, as I prefer to let mine age with time. When I found out I could have a set custom made for the sound I was looking for, I was all in.
After a few emails back and forth to work out the finer details of my intended specifications, the build was underway. I soon received my custom Antiquity Humbuckers in the mail and couldn't wait til the weekend to gut the circuit board and wiring in my 2011 LP Studio Faded and replace them with 50's wiring and matched pots and my new pickups.
I couldn't believe how great they sound! It's like a trip back in time to the 70's! The tone is truly amazing and works perfect with my playing style and sound. Every note is clearly defined where I once had muddy bass, I now have the guitar of my dreams!
Thanks so much to Riley and MJ and everyone else involved in my project! You guys rock and now I can too even better than before!
