Design your own pickup and let us know in the comments exactly how you want it to sound. MJ, Derek and Seymour will use your notes to help pick the right materials and wind for your pickup. Since your pickup is made specifically for you, please allow 4-6 weeks for it to be completed.
We are passionate about quality so we ask for your patience while we craft your pickup. Depending on the nature of your order, it may take up to six weeks for delivery.

It took me a while to get the pickup into the guitar, but I am extremely happy with my 78/jazz hybrid neck pickup! I'm using it with a Whole Lotta Humbucker bridge pickup, and they work extremely well together! The neck pickup is 8.53k, which many may consider pretty hot. But there's no muddieness, it's a bit creamy with a bunch of punch! Using an Alnico2 magnet was a great choice, since the in between position sounds great and I think has become something much more useable. The pickup also cleans up very well, with a great treble bite. All in all I am extremely happy! I would definitely order the same pickup again, though with all the options available it could be fun to try a different slug coil to pair with the 78 screw coil, just for the heck of it! Oh, the guitar the pickups went in is a 2001 Les Paul Custom 57 RI in a transparent Cherry finish...So I'm glad to have amazing pickups in a very beautiful guitar now! I would recommend anyone looking for something special to try out the Build Your Own option! Why not make your guitar one of a kind! A very big thank you to MJ for an amazing pickup! I've been getting my guitars from Vic Dapra, owner of Guitar Gallery and author of the Burst Believers books, and for him to be impressed with the look and tone of the guitar I think speaks highly of the work the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop provides!

I have had a little over a month to play with my custom built hybrid humbucker and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed and happy with what the great people at the Seymour Duncan custom shop have put together for me. They put in every detail I asked for and helped decide on things like the magnet and perfect dc resistance for what I was looking for. I have been using the ClydeBucker in a wide range of tuning applications from standard to drop G# and have come to find it is extremely versatile. They found the perfect midrange snap that I love for the lower tunings and in the more standard tunings it cuts through the mix beautifully while having a thunderous punch through the rhythm sections. The cleans are sparkling and the pickups sensitivity it amazingly responsive. I will be ordering a set for every guitar I have including my 7s. Thank you to everyone at Seymour Duncan for helping me down the seemingly endless and constant changing road of tone. I truly believe this is hands down the best pickup I have ever played and owned.

The custom pickup provided everything I wanted from it. I thought what I had asked for was a tall order but MJ worked her magic and produced my vision completely. They say that it you can dream it they can build it. I'm now looking at a custom neck pickup to go with my custom bridge pickup. Having a custom made pickup is an amazing experience. I can scratch that off my Bucket List.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,

Got a call in to the CS and spoke with MJ about what I was after and she said, 'Sure! No problem. Order with me or on the site and we'll get started.' 4-6wks later, I got an awesomely packed box with a couple great pickups. Can't wait for them to go in my new axe!

Knowing far less about how to describe or wind pickups, I just played dumb and threw it at MJ to mix parts I like about three different pickups. I wanted a tweaked Nazgul with the articulation of a Black Winter and the low end growl of a JB. I got EXACTLY that, absolutely love it and will more than likely end up ordering more sooner than later.
Black metal cover matched my guitar's finish perfectly. Very happy with this.
Also, naming your pickup is great. After having handled probably over a 100 SD pickups in my time, seeing the familiar SD sticker on the back with the name I gave it gives a bit of extra awesome to the ordeal.

I'll try to keep this brief. I've always been looking for a pickup that could do many things, not loosing its mind in the process as I have a bit of stylistic ADD. If memory serves me, MJ wound my pickup (looks like the slug/el diablo with A2 magnets). I asked for something that would, essentially, convey what was played in the most articulate way possible. What I got was a beautifully sweet/pleasant sounding pickup with great attack, just the right amount of mids and a clear top end that (despite my very bright amp) is not harsh. It's the most solid sounding A2 pickup I've ever laid ears on. If you're patient and know what you want, you won't be disappointed.

Got some stellar tones off of my Seymour Duncan Custom shop pickup. They really nailed the tone I described. Articulate like the Blackwinter in the highs and mids but keeping the warmth and the clean channel friendliness of the JB as well as having plenty of attack and punch in the right lows. It was standard black with double Allen screws, so next time I'll order a little fancier cover, but the tone is perfect! Thanks guys.

Everything turned out EXACTLY as I'd imagined! MJ did an amazing job turning my dream into a reality! The look, the tone, everything about it just came out perfect! Now, I'll be saving for a neck pickup!

I asked for a hot PAF with a really tight low end and warm top end. It was for a
guitar I had tried a number of pickups in. They knocked this one out of the park! Absolutely amazed at how they could take my notes and come up with exactly what I was after. It has breathed new life in to the guitar!

I was skeptical about a custom pickup but it turned out pretty close to what I wanted it to sound like. Very punchy and lots of highs without having a battery. Definitely better than just buying one of the shelf. I have been using SD pickups since the 90s and like all versions but this one is specific to me. Love the custom color!

This pickup is silky and warm distortion.

For PAF lovers who demand a pickup that has a little extra drive to a highly articulate response. Nice and open sounding with a touch more tone and output
